The Birthday Project

So Mike's birthday is March 29th. Seems forever away right? Wrong. I'm already late on getting his package out! I'm not used to how long it takes for mail to get to Honduras. But better late than never, right? For part of his birthday package I'm planning on compiling a whole bunch of notes from as many people as I can get them from. This is where you come in. Any one and every one! From high school, from band, from church, family, friends. If you know him really well or hardly at all; the more people that participate the better. All you need to do is leave a comment below, send me a facebook message, or send me and email {nilsenkimberly@gmail.com}. It can be as short or long as your little heart desires. Just take two seconds and do it! Mike will be thrilled to hear from so many of his friends back home and you get all the perks of being thoughtful for his birthday with absolutely no work or cost of shipping! Spread the word and lets make this the best birthday he'll ever have in Honduras. Thank you!!
Here's a little throw back from celebrating his birthday last year. Enjoy!

Happyville

Talking to Mike on the phone. Sheer joy. He got to call from the airports on his way to Honduras. Poor boy was SO tired but I was just happy to hear his voice. I can't believe he is actually going to Honduras! And neither can he, he kept saying how weird it was that he was sitting in the states for the last time for about two years. And he's moving to a third world country nonetheless. He is excited, happy, and  appropriately exhausted ;) I cannot WAIT for his first email from Honduras!
Also, fun fact: Mike brought up the point that on February 13 it will be his 18 month mark for his baptism. 18 months is how long a sister missionary serves. He has another 6 to go as an Elder. That put things into perspective. I feel like he got baptized FOREVER ago. Sheesh. Hurry home Elder Shuga!!

Happy Valentine’s Day! (almost)

In order for Mike to have gotten a Valentine’s Day package from me, I would have had to send it in December before he was even in Honduras. I wasn’t quiet sure how mail worked there yet and didn’t want to send a package that would get lost or damaged. So I decided that right before he left the MTC I would bring Valentine’s day to him a couple weeks early. After all, who doesn’t love a surprise holiday??

I don’t know about you, but I think the best thing about Valentine’s day are all the cheesy sayings that get attached to yummy treats. Chocolate and dorky quotes that make you smile? Don’t mind if I do!

Mike loves those little Kool-aid bursts. I thought I would be able to think of something more clever, but that was the best I could come up with… my creativity has a limit apparently.

Mike loves these cake balls I make. But instead of cake balls, I made them into cake hearts. Hooray for Valentine’s day and heart shaped chocolate and cheesy poems!

Then to top it off, I made mini Kim’s saying “I love you”.

And a flip book of me blowing that sweet boy kisses.
